Q: Does my recipient need a special account to receive a transfer from SendSprint?
A: No, your recipient doesn’t need a special account to receive a transfer from SendSprint. If however, you’re sending money to recipients in Nigeria, please bear in mind the following.

Due to the CBN's regulation in December 2020, all foreign remittance transfers into Nigeria must be in USD. This means that sending money into Nigeria, regardless of your source currency will be delivered in USD. (If you send GBP or CAD, the recipient will receive the equivalent in USD)

Your recipient can receive money through the following means:

  • Domiciliary USD Bank Account: This is a specific kind of bank account that allows your recipient to receive and make payments in foreign currencies.

  • Cash Pickup: This service enables your recipient to retrieve their money in cash from a specific selected physical location.

At Sprint, we're still working with our payments partner to create the most comfortable cash-pick-up experience. Once we're able to make this possible, we will enable this for recipients in Nigeria.

  • Instant USD Domiciliary Bank Account: This new service is available for recipients that do not have a Domiciliary USD Account and are currently customers of the (few) banks that offer this solution.

❖ How does the Instant USD Domiciliary Bank Account work?

    • To send money via the Instant USD Domiciliary Bank Account option, your recipient must have a valid Naira bank account with any listed banks that
      offer this service.

❖ What happens when you send money using the Instant USD Domiciliary Account option to a recipient without a USD domiciliary bank account?

    • The recipient's bank will automatically create a USD domiciliary bank account
using the existing data from their Naira bank account.

    • The recipient receives a notification from their bank and an email from
SendSprint when the money is deposited in their new USD domiciliary bank account.
